Ares announced that it will release IRODORI’s Sengoku period romance visual novel Hakkenden on Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch version will be available sometime this fall in Japan, and a western release was not confirmed.
Ares is a leading visual novel publisher in Japan, with its latest release being Windmill-developed romance visual novel HHG Megami no Shuuen for Nintendo Switch on October 26, 2023. Just a few months later, Ares released Hakkenden for PC on January 26, 2024 in Japan. The Nintendo Switch version will release at least eight months after the PC version.
Hakkenden Physical Release Confirmed
According to ARES, Hakkenden features over 200 CGs on Nintendo Switch. A limited edition will be sold physically in Japan, and customers can expect pre-order bonuses at participating retailers. More details will be revealed at a later date on the official ARES Twitter account, so stay tuned.

With the leaves slowly spreading throughout the region, a small cult worshiping the crimson leaves, calling themselves Shuukyou, has risen among the people.
Time passes, and it is now the 18th year of Kowa. When the hapless fates of those who live in this harsh world intertwine, the end of an era begins.
Lastly, Hakkenden is available now for PC in Japan, and the Nintendo Switch version launches sometime in fall 2024 in Japan.
