Sunrise and Bandai Namco Filmworks announced the sequel to the 2006 Zegapain mecha anime series will premiere in summer 2024 as the new Zegapain STA anime movie. The cast and staff of the anime have also been revealed alongside a new trailer and key visual.
The Zegapain anime sequel was confirmed back in August 2023. It will depict the “Olta Moda Arc,” which follows after the events of Zegapain ADP. In Japan, Zegapain ADP received a compilation film to catch fans up to speed.
Zegapain STA Comes to Theaters in Summer 2024
The new Zegapain STA confirms several cast members, including Kengo Kawanishi as new character Hal Velt (official name pending). Voice actors Shintarō Asanuma, Kana Hanazawa, Ayako Kawasumi, and Romi Park will also return as Kyo Sogoru, Ryoko Kaminagi, Shizuno Misaki, and Lu Sheng.
Zegapain ADP director Masami Shimoda returns to direct the new anime film at Sunrise. Katsuhiko Takayama is the scriptwriter. Akihiko Yamashita, Tatsuya Suzuki, and Marie Tagashira are the character designers. What’s more, Rei Nakahara, Noriyuki Jinguji, Takahiro Yamada, and Hideki Fukushima server as mechanical designers for the anime. Lastly, Ayako Ōtsuka returns as the music composer.

Kyo is a cheerful boy living in the suburbs of Maihara in Chiba. He’s a normal high school student whose life is busy with the swim team, friends, and romance. But one day a mysterious transfer student named Sizuno suddenly appears and guides him into another world — a world of giant robots and the conflicts he must become a part of. The more battles he survives, the more questions he is consumed by, but Kyo must fight through his anguish and commit himself to combat to save himself and his friends.
