Studio Flare and Toshimichi Mori Reveal New Game Visuals

    Studio Flare's first game project.

The official website for Studio Flare, the game studio led by former BlazBlue series producer Toshimichi Mori, revealed three new visuals for an upcoming new game. The studio is also hiring new staff for the project.

In February 2023, NetEase Games announced the establishment of Studio Flare, a Tokyo-based game development studio led by former Marvelous executive vice president Toshinori Aoki and BlazBlue creator Toshimichi Mori. This is Mori’s first endeavor since leaving Arc System Works in September 2022.

Three new visuals were released on the official website with concept art for the new project from Studio Flare. The visuals show a futuristic environment for what appears to be an adventure game. In addition, a girl with large rabbit-like ears may be seen in one of the visuals. However, Studio Flare doesn’t share specific details about what kind of game this will be.

Check out the new visuals below.

Aoki serves as president and CEO of Studio Flare, while game development is led by Mori as producer and executive vice president. Studio Flare’s first game has not been announced with an official title, but the studio is currently hiring talent for development of the new project. Open positions at the studio include 2D artists, 2D background artists, 3D artists, and server and infrastructure engineers.

Although Mori is no longer working for Arc System Works, the iconic fighting game company continues to support the BlazBlue series. Recently, Arc System Works licensed the franchise to developer 91Act to develop BlazBlue Entropy Effect, a new roguelite action game. The game launched in Steam Early Access in August 2023, and the full launch follows up in just a few days on January 31.

Lastly, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Mori’s last Arc System Works game, is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
