    The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 Anime Announced

    Kadokawa announced that production of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 is now greenlit! The anime series will continue with even more episodes in the near future, and a new key visual has been revealed.

    The Rising Of The Shield Hero started airing in January 2019, quickly becoming one of the most popular anime of that year. A second season proved to be just as successful, and The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 recently wrapped up in December 2023. It appears that studio Kinema Citrus will be back to produce the fourth season. 

    The Rising Of The Shield Hero Season 4 On The Way

    Alongside confirmation from Kadokawa, Naofumi voice actor Kaito Ishikawa revealed his excitement for The Rising of the Shield Hero to continue in Season 4 during a radio program. A new key visual was revealed, and Crunchyroll confirms that it will stream the fourth season when it premieres.

    Kinema Citrus produced all 12 episodes of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3. Hitoshi Haga served as director with Keigo Koyanagi will writing and supervising the series scripts. Kevin Penkin returned as composer.

    Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero.
    Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world.
    But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation?
