Last night, a sequel to MAPPA’s Dorohedoro anime was confirmed! The first season initially premiered on Netflix in 2020, and fans can now celebrate with official sequel confirmation four years later.
Series creator Q Hayashida took to Twitter to say that she will be playing a “big role” in the production of the upcoming sequel, which is good news for all involved. This could mean anything from tweaks to dialogue to brand-new, original content being implemented.
Alongside this announcement, new key art was revealed! The key art features the main characters of the series, Caiman and Nikaido. You can check it out below:
Besides the new key visual, no other information about the Dorohedoro anime sequel was revealed. There is no confirmation yet that studio MAPPA will return to animate the series. However, with Dorohedoro Director Yuchiro Hayashi recently wrapping up the brilliantly directed conclusion of Attack on Titan, it seems possible that this is his next project. In addition to the studio, the format was not revealed. This could be a movie, OVA, or TV anime series. We’ll let you know as soon as the format is confirmed. Finally, no release date or window for the Dorohedoro sequel was given. It’s likely that we could see the series or movie premiere sometime in 2024 with the timeframe of this announcement.
Dorohedoro is now available to watch exclusively on Netflix. The streaming service describes the series as the following:
Amnesiac Caiman seeks to undo his lizard head curse by killing the sorcerer responsible, with his friend Nikaido’s help. In the Hole, that’s a threat.
