One Piece Reveals Nostalgic New Ending Video for EGGHEAD Arc

    Published:

One Piece has revealed the new opening and ending theme songs for the EGGHEAD Arc with Episode 1089. The key visual and opening/ending theme artists were initially revealed over a month back on November 26, but tonight was the episode premiere.

“Dear Sunrise” by Maki Otsuki is the ending for the EGGHEAD arc, which acts as the 20th ending theme of the series so far. It features Luffy and each member of his crew, with flashbacks to his first encounters with each of them and when they joined the crew. It’s a heartwarming ending that truly fits the bill as the start of the “Final Saga.” A new opening was also revealed, “A~su!” by the legendary Hiroshi Kitadani!

You can check out the new opening below:

Tonight’s episode has marked the beginning of a brand-new arc: EGGHEAD. This arc will see Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates meet up with Dr. Vegapunk, a mysterious character long teased in the manga. Currently, the EGGHEAD arc is underway in the manga, so for the time being both the anime and manga will be producing content for the same arc.

One Piece is based on the manga of the same name written by Eiichiro Oda. It began serialization in 1997, with the anime beginning in 1999. Toei Animation has handled animation production since the start and continues to produce weekly episodes even today. In Japan, new episodes are broadcast every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM JST among TV networks. Standard One Piece anime episodes air at 9:00 PM CST on Crunchyroll, where they are simulcasted. Crunchyroll describes the series as the following:

Monkey. D. Luffy refuses to let anyone or anything stand in the way of his quest to become the king of all pirates. With a course charted for the treacherous waters of the Grand Line and beyond, this is one captain who’ll never give up until he’s claimed the greatest treasure on Earth: the Legendary One Piece!
