The official PlayStation channel has revealed yet another look at Whispers in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth this morning. A video titled Upcoming Games in 2024 was uploaded today, where small clips of upcoming titles were shown. Of these, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth appeared with footage from the ‘Release Date Trailer’ and a second-long clip of Cloud with the Whispers circling behind him.
If you played Final Fantasy VII Remake, you’ll know this is odd, considering the implications of the Whispers. Additionally, this could mean certain events from the game might not have had any effect at all. You can check out this new clip below from PlayStation. The Whispers shot appears around the 0:08 mark.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Whispers return for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, however. The latest trailer showcased the beings behind Aerith in a scene all too familiar. It feels like something the developers are purposely hiding as a surprise for those who played Final Fantasy VII Remake prior to starting Rebirth.
The Unknown Journey is set to continue next month. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will take players outside Midgar for the first time, with visits to iconic areas such as the Gold Saucer, Nibelheim, Corel, Junon, and more in order.
Leading up to launch, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete will return to theaters in both Japan and the USA. A special short film will premiere alongside the movie, featuring new interviews with key FFVII creators. Director Naoki Hamaguchi, Producer Yoshinori Kitase, and Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura are likely to appear in the new film.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024. The title will be exclusive to the platform until May 29, 2024. A Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Edition are available to pre-order now.
