ATLUS and Vanillaware revealed new details about tactical fantasy RPG Unicorn Overlord, including social activities, more of the protagonist’s allies, and additional gameplay features. Players will meet many characters across their journey in Unicorn Overlord, and some may become marriage candidates for the protagonist.
Unicorn Overlord features a vast fantasy world, a robust combat system, compelling simulation and management mechanics , and an incredible artstyle synonymous with Vanillaware games. Alain, protagonist and prince of Cornia, is chosen to lead the Liberation Army and return peace to Fevrith.
New Unicorn Overlord Characters
Several Unicorn Overlord characters were revealed by ATLUS and Vanillaware, including the crown prince of Drakenhold, Gilbert. Gilbert is secretly building up an army worthy of restoring the kingdom and avenging his father. He will help the protagonist, Alain, with his quest as well.
Virginia is the niece of Queen Ilenia and Alain’s older cousin. She fled to Drakenhold after the Cornian royal family fell, and she vows to have revenge as well.
Berengaria is another ally of Alain in Unicorn Overlord. Berengaria is the former leader of the Tricorn Mercenaries, and she’s feared as a deadly warrior. She abruptly disbanded the mercenary cell and disappeared for some time, however.
Aramis is a mercenary from Drakenhold that was hired by the Zenoira army. His speech and demeanor is rather elegant, and he’s very skillful with a blade.
Social Activities
Alain may deepen the bonds with his friends through battles, meals in Taverns, and social activities in Unicorn Overlord. Special conversations and additional benefits may be unlocked by building up Rapport between characters. When characters with high mutual Rapport are in a unit, they will gain a Rapport bonus. Characters may guard a town in Unicorn Overlord, and giving these characters gifts will build the character’s Rapport with Alain if it’s tailored to their likes and dislikes.
The Ring of the Unicorn is held by Alain, but he also has the Ring of the Maiden. When Alain maxes out Rapport with a character, he may choose to give that character the Ring of the Maiden and perform the Rite of Covenant, which sees both characters pledging fealty to each other forever. Unicorn Overlord presents many potential candidates, but only one may be chosen.
