Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince – Synthesis Guide

    Published:

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is a deep monster-collecting RPG with over 500 monsters to befriend. However, not all monsters can be obtained in this way. Many monsters can only be ‘Synthesized’. Check out our Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Synthesis Guide to learn how to improve your monster team!

    How to Unlock Monster Synthesis

You must first complete the first sections of the game, mostly tutorial and story introduction stuff. After you gain access to Rosehill Tower, Monty will have set up some amenities in the basement. There’s a shop and a bank, but you need to talk to Monty in order to do Synthesis.

    How to Synthesize Monsters

First things first, you need some monsters. You gotta capture some and possibly train them a little bit, as only monsters that are Level 10 or higher can be synthesized.

    Scouting

Exploring new areas and scouting monsters is key to expanding your legion. Many new areas will have bosses that upon defeat will improve your scouting percentage. You can also use treats to entice monsters so that upon defeat they are more likely to join you. Gather as many as possible, as it will let you synthesize a great variety of monsters with powerful Talents.

Pop by ol’ Monty in the Rosehill Tower and he’ll fuse monsters for you! Synthesizing gets you new monsters, sometimes with better ranks! Gathering and training many monsters is key, as some monsters can only be obtained via synthesis. Some combinations can result in special monsters or monsters with improved aspects, which is indicated with a gold background or symbol on the monster portrait. You also get to pick the Talents of the new monster, which can be a combination of the parent monsters’ Talents or even some unique Talents.
