Mortal Kombat 1 Story DLC Confirmed, ‘Big Surprise’ to Come

A bright future for Mortal Kombat 1.

During a panel at CCXP 2023, Ed Bon officially announced that Mortal Kombat 1 will be getting story DLC. Supposedly, a “big surprise” will follow it. NetherRealm Studios will likely reveal more details about the game’s DLC sometime in 2024.

Mortal Kombat 1 is the most recent entry in the beloved Mortal Kombat franchise. The game is available now and features various unique characters and brand-new ways to play. Last month, during New York Comic-Con, NRS released the first DLC character, Omni-Man, for the game. Quan Chi will be the next DLC fighter, and after him, it will be Peacemaker.

Mortal Kombat 1 To Get Story DLC

Mortal Kombat 1 Quan Chi Gameplay Trailer Revealed, Releasing in December

During the recent CCXP 2023 event in Brazil, Ed Boon held a panel dedicated to Mortal Kombat. During the event, he revealed that Quan Chi will be the next DLC character coming to Mortal Kombat 1. Additionally, he revealed that the game will be getting story DLC in the near future. He stated: “Just like we did with MK11, we’re going to release a second part with more story and we have a big surprise after that.”

Mortal Kombat 1‘s predecessor, Mortal Kombat 11, also featured a story DLC. Titled Aftermath, the expansion released over one year after the release of MK11. With the previous precedent being set by Mortal Kombat 11, it is likely that Mortal Kombat 1‘s story expansion will release in Fall 2024, after the entirety of Kombat Pack 1 has been released.
