    BitSummit Drift Event Set for July 2024 in Kyoto

    The annual indie gaming event returns in Kyoto.

    BitSummit announces that its annual premier indie gaming event will return as BitSummit Drift in 2024. The upcoming event will be active from July 19 to 21 in Kyoto, a city with a long-running legacy of game development from Japanese indies. 

    BitSummit is one of the largest annual indie gaming events in Japan. The very first BitSummit was held in 2013 as a small-scale event, but the event has grown tremendously in the decade that followed. BitSummit Let’s Go celebrated the event’s 11th anniversary, and BitSummit Drift will celebrate its 12th anniversary as games “race” into Kyoto in 2024.

    BitSummit Drift – Racing Towards Indie Gaming’s Future

    From July 19 to 21 in Kyoto, BitSummit Drift will exhibit and showcase indie games from Japan and around the world. The event’s them this year emphasizes the “swift and dynamic flow” of the indie gaming industry. Indie games and developers will gather at BitSummit to bring a spotlight to their creativity and potentially collaborate for future projects. 

    Indie developer entries open on November 30, 2023 and close on February 29, 2024. Developers that submit their titles will have the chance to showcase their games in front of sponsors, Japanese media, and publications from around the world. Moreover, indie developers may network with key industry personnel during the three-day event. 

    “Embracing the spirit of “BitSummit Drift,” this year’s event symbolizes the swift and dynamic flow of indie gaming,” BitSummit said in its latest press release. “Kyoto, a city with a legacy of game development and home to leading indie studios, sets the stage for this global gathering of creativity and collaboration.”

    BitSummit continued, “BitSummit Drift is more than a festival; it’s a launchpad for indie developers to showcase their talent. With industry giants in attendance as sponsors, and partnerships with influential Japanese media, developers have the chance to turbocharge their visibility and network with key industry players.”
