Avex Pictures has announced that a The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies anime is in-development. The anime will be produced by BONES. A release date is currently unknown.
The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies is a four-panel manga written and illustrated by the late Cocoa Fujiwara. It was serialized from 2013 to 2015 in Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker. Avex will likely reveal more information about the anime adaptation’s release date in the coming months.

During Avex Pictures’ Anime NYC 2023 panel, they announced that a The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies anime is currently being developed. Akiyo Ohashi will direct the anime at BONES. BONES is known for their work on several different anime such as Soul Eater, My Hero Academia, and Mob Psycho 100. Yuniko Ayana will be in charge of the script and series composition. Haruko Iizuka will design the characters while MAYUKO will be composing the series’ soundtrack.

While the original manga series is not available through any publication website, Crunchyroll describes the series’ story as follows:
“The story centers on the unlikely romance between Mira, an official in an evil organization hell-bent on world domination, and Byakuya Mimori, a magical girl who sets out to thwart them.”
Lastly, an anime adaptation of The Magical Girl and The Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies will air soon. At the time of writing, Avex Pictures has not yet confirmed when the series will premiere. Further, no details about the anime’s staff have been revealed either. However, Avex Pictures and BONES will likely reveal more information about the upcoming series in the coming months.
