Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince ‘Monster Showcase’ Trailer Released

    Another look into Psaro's journey.

Square Enix released a new trailer for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince that highlights some of the monsters that players may wrangle and use in battle. The full game will have over 500 monsters to scout and synthesize.

Dragon Quest fans will soon embark on a new journey as Psaro, a familiar name from Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen. A curse prevents Psaro from directly hurting monsters, but he’s able to wrangle and use them instead. Alongside Psaro’s companions, monsters will be helpful in his ultimate quest for revenge against his father.

The latest trailer for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince introduces the turn-based combat system and various monsters that may be caught in Nadiria. Psaro is also able to scout monsters to add to his roster and synthesize them to create brand-new ones. Synthesizing will generally result in a more powerful monster to use.

Here’s an overview of the game, via Square Enix:

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince features Psaro, the demon prince, whose curse prevents him from harming monsters. As a result, he must become a Monster Wrangler, recruiting, and fighting alongside monsters throughout the various environments of the fantastical world of Nadiria. Over the course of this adventure, the seasons will regularly cycle through Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall, which not only changes the landscape, but also opens new areas and players will encounter different monsters specific to that season.

One of the most powerful tools in the player arsenal is the newly evolved synthesis system which allows players to create completely new monsters by combining those already on their roster. Players can experiment and eventually unlock over 500 monsters, including franchise favorites, dark lords, and completely new creatures. Once players have assembled their dream roster, they can take their teams of powerful monsters online, to battle against other Monster Wranglers around the world.

Lastly, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince launches December 1 for Nintendo Switch, and pre-orders are available now physically at retail and digitally via Nintendo eShop. Pre-orders include the Head Start Set featuring, Stardust Earrings x1, Scholar’s Specs x1, and Bonus Ball x5.
