HIDIVE Ending Service in Certain Regions Outside North America

The result of an evaluation of the HIDIVE offering.

    Published:

HIDIVE announced that its anime streaming service will no longer be available in certain regions outside of North America on December 14, 2023. The company did not state any specific areas affected by the imminent end of service, but a new message was shared on HIDIVE’s support website.

Similarly to Crunchyroll and Hulu, HIDIVE offers a wide variety of anime with English subtitles and voice-overs, including The Eminence in Shadow and Oshi no Ko. Moreover, the platform offers simulcasting with many popular series including Ragna Crimson and Helck, allowing fans to watch new anime episodes alongside the Japanese premiere. Unfortunately, the anime service appears to be downscaling its services outside of North America.

HIDIVE Ending Service in Select Regions

HIDIVE’s support page was updated with an announcement regarding its end of service in certain regions outside North America on December 14. The streaming platform notes that it’s constantly evaluating the service and its area of operation. This led to the decision to end service in various regions, but these regions have not been explicitly stated. HIDIVE says that its content will be made available to viewers via “local platforms” when possible. Users will still have access to the content library through December 31.

Here’s the full message from HIDIVE:

“We are constantly evaluating the HIDIVE offering and our area of operation and unfortunately, the service will no longer be available in certain areas outside of North America, as of 12/14/2023. Going forward, we will endeavor to make our content available to you via local platforms when possible. Please note that you will have full access to our content library on our website www.hidive.com through 12/31/2023. We sincerely appreciate your business and apologize for the inconvenience.”

HIDIVE is owned by Sentai Holdings, LLC alongside Sentai Filmworks. AMC Holdings acquired Sentai Holdings in January 2022. This past March, Sentai Filmworks and Japan’s Mainichi Broadcasting System signed a new partnership that gives HIDIVE access to MBS programming in global markets.
