Star Ocean: The Second Story R is a vast and rich RPG experience. Witness an epic story as you explore an expansive uncharted world. Claude and Rena will meet many new faces along the way. One of the unique characters you can recruit in Star Ocean: The Second Story R is the draconic Ashton.
Character Recruitment Basics
There are a few basics of character recruitment to keep in mind on your adventure.
- You can only have a maximum party size of 8 total characters
- Most characters are recruited from Sub Events and Private Actions. Be sure to refer to your map often in order to stay as up-to-date as possible.
- There are a couple of characters that are only available to one of the two protagonists. So choose wisely in order to get who you really want!
- Some characters require you to decline another character’s offer to join you in order to get.
As long as you remember these basics, it’ll be a cinch to get what characters you want. However, sometimes there are extra requirements that you must complete in order to complete the recruitment process.
How to Recruit Ashton in Star Ocean: The Second Story R
You can recruit Ashton after the events at Marze. Once you get to Harley, you will hear tell of a dragon in the Salva Mines (which you may remember a sign mentioning a dragon when you were exploring the mines). Return to the Salva Mines and explore the new section of it. At the end, you will be treated with a scene and Ashton will ask to join you.
You may have recruited Ashton, but he actually has a fairly meaty side story you can complete to add more depth to his character and the lore of Expel. You’ll have to visit Marze to learn more about what ails Ashton, visit a new dungeon called the Mountain Palace, and then the Lasgus Mountains. Prepare for some strong monsters and a tough boss fight!
