    Afghani's biggest role yet.

In a new tweet, LA-based voice actor Kevin Afghani confirms that he is the new voice of Mario & Luigi in Super Mario Bros Wonder. Afghani replaces Charles Martinet, who is now the Mario Ambassador for Nintendo.

This past August, Charles Martinet officially stepped down from the role of Mario after over twenty-five years. Nintendo confirmed that Martinet will not be providing the role of Mario or Luigi in the upcoming Super Mario Bros Wonder. After weeks of rumors and speculation, Nintendo finally gave the word for Kevin Afghani to reveal his role.

Kevin Afghani will be voicing Mario and Luigi in Super Mario Bros Wonder and future Mario games as the direct replacement of Charles Martinet. The rest of the voice cast will likely be revealed in the days leading into launch day on October 20. Of course, fans may wait until launch day in order to find out for themselves once they reach the game’s credits. Nintendo will likely update fans about the new game leading into launch day as well.

On September 7, Nintendo of America posted an official video message courtesy of both Charles Martinet and Shigeru Miyamoto. Starting in 1996 with Super Mario 64, Charles Martinet has voiced Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi. After twenty-seven years, Martinet is retiring from the role of Mario and entering his new position as Nintendo’s Mario Ambassador.

“Please know that in this role,” Miyamoto states, “Charles will continue to travel around the world and meet fans, performing the familiar voices at events, signing autographs, and enjoying interacting with you all.” He also officially confirmed that “starting with Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which will be released in October, the voices of some Mario characters have become someone new.”

Lastly, Super Mario Bros Wonder launches on October 20 for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
