Activision Blizzard has confirmed that they will add games to Xbox Game Pass within the next year upon Microsoft’s purchase. They also confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Diablo IV will not be available on the service “this year.”
Microsoft initially announced its intentions to purchase the company in 2022. In July 2023, the courts officially approved their purchase. The company is set to finalize its purchase of the company by the end of the week.
Activision Blizzard Games Coming to Game Pass Soon
On October 9, Activision Blizzard posted a tweet stating the following:
“It’s awesome to see anticipation building for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. As we continue to work toward regulatory approval of the Microsoft deal, we’ve been getting some questions whether our upcoming and recently launched games will be available via Game Pass.
“While we do not have plans to put Modern Warfare III or Diablo IV into Xbox Game Pass this year, once the deal closes, we expect to start working with Xbox to bring our titles to more players around the world. And we anticipate that we would begin adding games into Game Pass sometime in the course of next year.”
Next month, a new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game will release on all consoles. While it will not initially be available on the service, Activision will likely release it within 2024. Further, the 2024 Call of Duty game will probably be available on day one on Xbox Game Pass. Earlier this year, Diablo IV was released on most modern consoles. Any further Diablo and Blizzard will also be available on the service in 2024.
Lastly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on November 10. Diablo IV is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
