Shinjuku-based development studio Studio Lights announced Mononoke no Kuni, a new isekai action RPG coming to PC via Steam in spring 2024. This particular developer is responsible for the impressive lighting for environments and cutscenes in Final Fantasy XVI.
Mononoke no Kuni was announced at Tokyo Game Show 2023, which runs from September 21 to 24 in the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. Attendees may try out the new action RPG for the first time. In addition, a new press release from Studio Lights revealed more details to those who are unable to attend the annual event.
Mononoke no Kuni Unveiled
In Mononoke no Kuni, players go on an adventure with the puppy Musashi in an open-world inhabited by monsters and gods. The new title includes roguelite and farming sim elements, so this should sound familiar to those who have played the Rune Factory series of RPGs. In order to return to the protagonist’s original world, the land of Mononoke and the Omiwa Shrine must be restored to its original glory. Set forth into dungeons and defeat monsters in order to safely develop the village and return home.
Mononoke no Kuni is coming to PC via Steam first in spring 2024. The game is also coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, iOS, and Android at a later date. Exact PlayStation platforms were not confirmed, but the TGS 2023 booth includes a DualSense controller, so PS5 appears to be a safe assumption.
Here’s an overview of the new RPG, via Gematsu:
Go on an adventure with your adorable puppy Musashi in a roguelite 3D open-world inhabited by beastmen and gods in Mononoke no Kuni. Fish, work the farm, and cross islands by boat to go around various lands.
In order to return to your original world from the land of Mononoke, a land covered in filth, you must help Mononoke, strategize in dungeons, and defeat monsters to restore the Omiwa Shrine. This game is recommended for players who like cozy village development, unique art, story analysis, and Japanese-style fantasy.
