During Tokyo Game Show 2023, Capcom showcased a gameplay deep dive of Dragon’s Dogma 2. The game will release next year on all next-generation consoles.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the sequel to the 2012 Capcom RPG—Dragon’s Dogma. Capcom released an enhanced version of the game called Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen a year later. More new gameplay was shown during Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show 2023 Special Program livestream.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Gameplay Deep Dive Details
The gameplay deep dive of Dragon’s Dogma 2 focuses on the game’s Pawn AI companions, the open world, available vocations, and more. Players can choose between one of six roles:
- The Fighter, who wields a sword and shield.
- The Archer, who uses a bow and arrow to take out enemies at longer ranges.
- The Thief, who can attack at high speeds and steal from enemies and NPCs alike.
- Mage, who uses a staff to wield defensive and offensive magic.
- The Magick Archer, who utilizes both magic and archery to support their allies and damage their enemies.
- And the Mystic Spearhead, who uses a unique weapon called the Duospear to deal ranged and close-quarters damage to enemies.
Any NPC, or Pawn, that joins you on your journey can have their vocations changed at certain locations. Additionally, Capcom revealed more information about the game’s setting. The game is split into two nations: Vermund, the kingdom of humanity,
and the beastren nation of Battahl. Vermund has many green and lush lands, while Battahl is filled with ruins and canyons.
Players can encounter travelers, merchants, soldiers, and other NPCs in each nation going about their daily lives. Additionally, if a Pawn in your party knows a quest, they will offer to guide the Arisen to their destination. There are several more dynamic events that fans will undoubtedly get a kick out of when the game releases.
