Square Enix announced the Foamstars Open Beta Party will be held from September 29 to October 1, allowing players to try out the game for the very first time. The upcoming open beta will be free to all players, and several new details were revealed at the September 14 State of Play.
Foamstars is a “foamy” 4v4 competitive shooter where players battle for ultimate supremacy. Before its launch in 2024, Square Enix will host an open beta to test out the game’s server capabilities and features.
Foamstars Open Beta Party Dates, Modes and Content
Foamstars Open Beta Party will be live from Friday, September 29 at 6:00 p.m. PDT to Sunday, October 1 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. The open beta may be downloaded from the PlayStation Store on PlayStation 5 for free. In addition, an active PlayStation Plus subscription is not required.
In the open beta, players will have access to two different 4v4 game modes. In Smash the Star, each team must fight in order to secure seven knockouts. Once this goal is met, the best player will be selected as a “Star Player.” In order to win the match, the teams must defeat their opposing team’s Star Player to win. The second mode is Happy Bath Survival, which involves “infield” and “outfield” players. Victory is earned by defeating a team’s infield players. Outfield players must protect infield players at all costs to survive and win.
A total of eight characters will be available in the open beta. Each character has their play style, specialist weapons, and skills. Here’s the confirmed character roster (left to right):

Moreover, Square Enix confirms the in-game soundtrack for Foamstars is composed by MONACA (NieR, SINoALICE). MONACA’s work extends into anime, drama, film, and other popular games. Gurihiru is the illustration team in charge of character designs for Foamstars.
Lastly, Foamstars launches in early 2024 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
