The Blue Exorcist series by manga author Kazue Katō finally returns with the new anime series Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga. This upcoming anime will adapt volumes 10-15 of the manga series.
Blue Exorcist became a popular anime with a 25-episode run in 2011. A Blue Exorcist movie would release one year later in 2012, but fans had to wait five more years for the anime series to return in 2017 with Kyoto Saga. After another long wait, Blue Exorcist will return with a new anime next year.
Blue Exorcist Anime Returns With Shimane Illuminati Saga
A new trailer for Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga was shown at Aniplex Online Fest 2023, confirming the anime’s long awaited return. The new anime will premiere in January 2024 to kick off the year on a strong note. Aniplex also confirms that the original Blue Exorcist voice cast will return for the new anime series. Moreover, the anime’s official Twitter account reveals a new key visual.

Daisuke Yoshida directs the returning anime series at Studio VOLN with Toshiya Ono overseeing the series scripts. Yurie Oohigashi is the character designer and chief animation director, while Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano compose the music.
