    Zegapain Mecha Sequel Anime Announced

    Zegapain ADP revival screenings confirmed, too.

    Sunrise and Bandai Namco Filmworks announced a sequel to the 2006 Zegapain mecha anime series is coming soon. The franchise’s official website has been updated with new details about what fans can expect in the upcoming sequel anime. 

    The Zegapain anime series follows the story of Kyo, the sole member of a high school swimming team. Kyo recruits Misaki to create a promotional video in order to keep the club from closing. Although Misaki agrees to help, Kyo is tasked with piloting mecha under the wing of Celebrum. This is a resistance organization from Earth that fights to destroy Deutera Areas formed by Gards-orm aliens. A total of 26 episodes were released in 2006.

    The Zegapain series returns with the “Olta Moda Arc” episode, which acts as a sequel to the original anime run. The exact name of the sequel is Zegapain Project Reunion, which includes revival screenings of Zegapain ADP with new scenes in theaters. Moreover, the original series will be rebroadcasted on TV Tokyo in Japan. It’s unknown how the new sequel will be produced or distributed, however.

    Kyo is a cheerful boy living in the suburbs of Maihara in Chiba. He’s a normal high school student whose life is busy with the swim team, friends, and romance. But one day a mysterious transfer student named Sizuno suddenly appears and guides him into another world — a world of giant robots and the conflicts he must become a part of. The more battles he survives, the more questions he is consumed by, but Kyo must fight through his anguish and commit himself to combat to save himself and his friends.
