An ESRB rating for a Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition has surfaced, implying that a new release is on the way. The rating hints that the game will be available on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. At the time of writing, Ubisoft has not yet confirmed the listing.
Ubisoft initially released Beyond Good & Evil in 2003. In 2011, they released ports of the game on the PS3 and Xbox 360. A sequel, Beyond Good & Evil 2, was announced in 2017. No news has been revealed on the game since 2018.
Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition Rating
ESRB’s rating of Beyond Good & Evil on modern consoles suggests that a new version of the game will be available this November to commemorate 20 years since the game first came out.
The ESRB rating states the following:
“This is an action-adventure game in which players assume the role of a reporter accompanied by a pig-like companion investigating a conspiracy on the planet of Hillys. From a third-person perspective, players explore fantasy locations, take photos of evidence, solve puzzles, and fight robot and alien enemies. Combat is sometimes fast-paced, with players using melee weapons (e.g., staffs, torches) to strike stylized enemies that generally break apart or vanish into puffs of smoke. One boss battle depicts a squid-like alien stabbed in the eye, with yellow-green splatter effects.”
The rating has since been removed by ESRB’s website, likely by Ubisoft themselves. Ubisoft will likely reveal more information on the existence of the upcoming port in the coming weeks and months.
Lastly, Beyond Good & Evil is available now on PC and Xbox One through backwards compatibility. The upcoming 20th Anniversary Edition will likely be released around November. It will be available for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Also, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is supposedly still in development for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
