A new Gintama 20th anniversary project is being teased for an upcoming issue of Weekly Shonen Jump. The exact nature of this project is unknown, but fans won’t have to wait much longer for an announcement.
Hideki Sorachi’s popular Gintama series began with the manga in 2004. The manga ran until June 2021 with an impressive 17-year run. In addition, the 3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-Sensei spin-off novel series will receive a new anime adaptation, and another project appears to be on the way.
Gintama 20th Anniversary Project
Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #40 teases that a new Gintama 20th anniversary project will be announced in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #41. Issue 40 releases on September 4, and Issue 41 releases on September 11. According to @WSJ_manga, Gintama will also be participating with a Blue Super Stage at Jump Festa 2024, which will run sometime in December 2023. Undead Unluck, Bleach Thousand-Year Blood War, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and many more manga/anime series will be at Jump Festa 2024. More details about Jump Festa 2024 and its schedule will likely be revealed in the coming weeks and months.
