Arc System Works released a new Starter Guide video for Guilty Gear Strive DLC character Johnny, the first out of multiple characters arriving in Season 3. The katana wielder has plenty of tricks up his sleeves.

During EVO 2023 earlier this month, Arc System Works revealed that Johnny will make his triumphant return in Guilty Gear Strive Season 3. The game’s third season will include a total of four playable characters releasing in 2023 and 2024. Johnny’s return is imminent, so Arc System Works released a new trailer to introduce his move-set.

Guilty Gear Strive Starter Guide – Johnny

Arc System Works’ Starter Guide videos typically go over all of a character’s special moves with various demonstrations. The latest Guilty Gear Strive Starter Guide video features Johnny, the katana-wielding pirate. Johnny can apply serious pressure in corners with his basic combo strings. His special move, Mist Finer, sends out a directional ranged slash based on the attack input. This move may also be performed in mid-air.

Johnny may also use his cards to catch an unsuspecting player off-guard. The Deal move will send a card toward his opponent, causing damage if Johnny slashes the card. Deal may be done in mid-air as well, so Johnny has the opportunity to open up an opponent for additional damage on the way down by connecting with Vault. Vault may allow Johnny to evade his opponent and extend a combo by launching himself forward. The new DLC character may also set enemies on fire briefly through the use of Ensenga.
