The ongoing Oshi no Ko manga is currently on break with co-author Mengo Yokoyari taking the reins for the all-new Oshi no Ko Interlude manga. Although the Oshi no Ko manga has taken a brief hiatus a few times in the past, this particular break will noticeably longer.
Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari’s Oshi no Ko entered serialization on April 23, 2020 in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine. The manga quickly became popular in Japan and the west, and an anime series by Doga Kubo premiered three years later on April 12, 2023. A second season is in production, and fans must also wait for the next chapter of the main manga series.
Oshi no Ko – The Manga Break Explained
Manga author Aka Akasaka recently took a one-month break for personal health reasons, and the creator recently returned to work in early August 2023 according to his official Shueisha Twitter account. As a result, the Oshi no Ko manga will be going on a short break for roughly a month or so. In the meantime, Yokoyari will release four chapters for the new Oshi no Ko Interlude manga starring Mem-Cho.
The new Interlude manga will shed light on Mem-Cho’s backstory as fans await the next main chapter of Oshi no Ko. The first chapter of Oshi no Ko Interlude, chapter EX, released on August 9. Three more chapters will be released weekly until September 7. The main Oshi no Ko manga series will return with chapter 126 in Young Jump issue 42 on September 14.

Fans may read new Oshi no Ko manga chapters as they release on Manga Plus in English, including the new Interlude spin-off. Publisher Yen Press is also printing and distributing the popular manga series in English volumes. Anime watchers may also stream the first season of Oshi no Ko right now on HIDIVE while waiting on the second season.
