Riot Games has released a new video for Project L featuring gameplay footage and a new mode called “Duo Play.” The developers demonstrate the new mode in a match together, allowing fans to watch how Project L may be played soon.
Project L is a fighting game set in League of Legends. It will be free-to-play and be released sometime in the next year or so. Fans may also look forward to a playable build at EVO 2023 this August.
Duo Play in Project L
Project L is a game that features tag mechanics, much like Marvel vs Capcom. You can pick a second character to perform various “assists.” These include projectiles, uppercuts, or an attack that will slam your character across the screen. Duo-Play, however, is a unique feature of Project L: if you’re playing with a friend, that friend can be tagged in to help you attack your opponents. Therefore, two of you can fight against two other people online and locally.
Game Director Shaun Rivera and Core Rules Designer Daniel Maniago revealed more information about the mode in the latest developer diary. According to them, it functions like “tag-team wrestling.” Players wait for the right moment to tag in their partner, and with various assist options, they can stay on the screen longer than a computer player would.
Riot Games has also announced that a playable demo of Project L will be available at EVO 2023. If you intend to go to the Vegas fighting game tournament, be sure to give the game a try. Additionally, several YouTubers and influencers have posted their first impressions of Project L. These include Maximillian Dood, Sajam, and Justin Wong. For those unsure if the upcoming fighting game is for them, check out their impressions.
