On the official PlayStation Blog, developers from Sabotage detail more about the game’s traversal mechanics. “Too often,” they say, “we have fought epic monsters only to have then go out of our way to reach the next objective because a fallen tree was blocking the way. With Sea of Stars, we set out to move as far away from tile-based movement as possible to create something that would feel lighter and more seamless, while allowing for a more varied moveset, and in turn, offer more opportunities for players to interact with the environment during their adventures. We wanted exploration to be as fully fleshed out as combat.”

The interactive elements of the upcoming release appear unmatched. If you time your attack in sync with the animations, it does extra damage. There are no limits to how you can explore this pixel wonderland. Plus, there is also the option to relax a bit and cook, sail, and fish as you navigate the world of Sea of Stars.

The story of the game is described as follows: “Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics. It tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.”

Finally, Sea of Stars will release on August 29, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. For those eager to give the game a try, a demo is available now on PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
