SEGA have revealed various updates coming to Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis in the month of August 2023. Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis players can expect new story content, PSO-style quests, features, collaborations, and much more in just a week’s time.
Before August 2023 arrives, one last update for July drops on the 26th. The final update of Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis for July 2023 includes two notable pieces of content: Nazun’s Big Quiz Part 2 limited-time quest and ARKS Records for Field Race North Retem Board (Stage 1). Players will also have access to Remix Line Jul ’23 and Remix Collection Jul ’23 AC Scratch Tickets.
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis August 2023 Updates
The August 2023 round of Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis updates arrives on August 2 with the continuation of the main story. Manon returns with a new style in Chapter 6, Part 2, and the three protagonists are given new tasks upon their reunion. Players may explore new Mini Episodes and take on the new Leciel Exploration Standing Quest. In Standing Quests, up to eight players may team up to complete a timed challenge against enemies and a powerful Ruinus boss. The new quest will introduce the new 9-star Rarity Verschmalz weapon series with 100% critical rate potentials. These weapons may be obtained by trading in the new Growthment item, which drops from the new Standing Quest.
On August 2, popular weapon camos will now drop from Trainia activities such as Geometric Labyrinth, Trainia Advance, and Battledia: Purple. The Enhancing Preset Skills feature will also be available at the Item Lab. This particular feature allows players to add a random Preset Skills to weapons and armor by spending Material Items and N-Meseta under certain conditions. Further, the new update introduces SG Legacy Coordination Badge reward items, which may be exchanged for popular hair and pose cosmetics from past SG Scratch Tickets. The Designer Dreams Aug ’23 AC Scratch Ticket will also make its debut with more PSO 2 10th anniversary cosmetics.
New Features and Creative Space Improvements
New Creative Space features are coming to Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis in the August 2 and 9 updates. An Alliance Space will now be available for each Alliance, and Retem may be selected as a theme. New build parts will also be available alongside ARKS Records for the Field Race: Halpha Lake Board (Stage 1): Solo. Additionally, furnishings from the original PSO 2 will be introduced on August 9.
Players can expect a plethora of new features with the August 2 update:
- Ability to change the Backdrop of Status screen via Main Menu
- Quest Counter and Titles now accessible via Main Menu
- DPS (damage-per-second option) display option
- Icons for Incomplete Limited-Time Quests will now appear at the Quest Counter NPC
- Teleport to Cocoons and Towers directly from the World Map
- Support NPCs for Battledia: Yellow
- New Salon options
- New ARKS ID Backdrops
- High resolution display of other players option (PC only)
- Change Height option for Portable Holograms
- Alliance Applicant List
- Attack boost while participating in ARKS Records
August 9 Update
A new high-difficulty quest called Sign of the Planetbreaker will be available with the August 9 update. In this new quest, a group of four will challenge the mighty Dark Falz Solus. The new update will also introduce ARKS Records for Geometric Labyrinth (Rank 2): Solo in Trinitas for all classes. A new Treasure Scratch event will also be available alongside Mission Pass NGS Season 23, so plenty of free rewards may be earned throughout the month. The Uncle from Another World collaboration event will begin on August 9 with new login bonuses, a special AC Scratch Ticket featuring Uncle from Another World outfits and cosmetics, and nostalgic SEGA hardware accessories.
August 23 and 30 Updates
On August 23, the Blazing Battle Limited-Time Quest brings players to Kanai Isle in Aelio to battle waves of enemies. ARKS Records will be held for Parties and All Classes in Blazing Battle. The new Stylish Summer AC Scratch Ticket will also be live, bringing summer outfits to ARKS operatives.
One week later, another Limited-Time Quest will be available. In A Ruins Interception, up to 24 players may fight Megalotix in Belugana Ruins. Moreover, ARKS Records for the Field Race: South Kvaris Dash (Stage 1): Solo will be live. The Emote Collection Aug ’23 Revival Scratch Ticket will bring back popular emotes from the original PSO 2.
Oshi no Ko Collaboration
A new collaboration event between Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis and Oshi no Ko will be held in September 2023. The new event will include avatar items based on Ai, Ruby, and Aqua from Oshi no Ko. Fans can also expect emotes, Build Parts, stamps, and Portable Holograms based on the series.
