Spike Chunsoft and developers Millennium Kitchen and Toybox reveal new details about Natsu-Mon 20th Century Summer Vacation and the in-game town called Tonari. Players have a number of activities and features at their disposal while traversing Yomogi and Tonari.
Located next to Yomogi, Tonari is known for its sights and landmark, including a clock tower and newspaper company. Inside the clocktower, a local museum-like exhibit may be found. The protagonist may learn more about the history of the Tonari and Yomogi area. Moreover, a sunflower field may be found on the route between Tonari and Yomogi. Although taking the bus or train saves time, walking the route is another option in order to take in the scenery.
Natsu-Mon 20th Century Summer Vacation – Town of Tonari
While in Tonari, the protagonist may become friends with Chiharu Momoyama (voiced by Rie Hikisaka), a junior high school student who volunteers as a guide at the clock tower. Natsu-Mon 20th Century Summer Vacation players may also talk to Hideto (voiced by Shouya Chiba), a Tonari newspaper reporter looking for scoops. In Tonari, public transportation may be used to go to other bus stops. Bus stops must be registered to a “Destinations List” while exploring the town, however.
Even more methods of transportation are available in Natsu-Mon 20th Century Summer Vacation, however. Portable toilets can be found around the game world, allowing players to somehow instantly transport to the bathroom at the Ashitaba Lodge, the protagonist’s summer home. Players may obtain a certain item to glide through the air as well.
The protagonist may also have their fortunes read by Love, one of the circus troupe members. A fortune will tell you where something is likely to happen that day in Natsu-Mon 20th Century Summer Vacation. Another activity involves taking care of pigs behind the priest’s shrine. Sometimes, a pig will escape into town, and the protagonist may help them find their way back home. Acorns are the pigs’ favorite food (Thanks, Gematsu!).
Lastly, Natsu-Mon 20th Century Vacation launches on July 28 for Nintendo Switch in Japan.
