Bandai Namco announced the Tekken 8: The Art of Fighting will be held at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 on July 21. Special guests for the upcoming Tekken 8 Comic-Con panel including the legendary boxer Mike Tyson, WWE superstar Xavier Woods, and game director Katsuhiro Harada.
Tekken 8 closed network test codes are being sent out today, and Bandai Namco also took the opportunity to announce a panel at Comic-Con. Moreover, Bandai Namco confirms Tekken 8 installation will include new artwork, a non-alcoholic beverage station, a DJ, cosplayers, and much more. Tekken fans may enjoy these activities after heading to the Tekken 8: The Art of Fighting Comic-Con Panel.
Tekken 8: The Art of Fighting Comic-Con Panel
The Tekken 8: The Art of Fighting Panel will be held on July 21 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. PDT at the San Diego Convention Center (Room 6BCF) during Comic-Con 2023. Boxing legend Mike Tyson will headline the Tekken 8: The Art of Fighting Panel alongside MMA Grand Slam Champion Cris Cyborg, WWE superstar Xavier Woods a.k.a. Austin Creed, game director Katsuhiro Harada, producer Michael Murray, and esports personality Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez.
The Tekken 8 panel will “bring real world fighting and entertainment fighting worlds together” to discuss shared themes and look at how fight techniques have evolved, changing how fighting is portrayed in games. The Tekken franchise takes inspiration from more than 21 actual martial arts ranging from Bryan Fury’s kickboxing and Hwoarang’s Taekwondo to King’s pro-wrestling and lucha libre. This homage to combat sports continues in Tekken 8.
“Panelists will share personal stories from their professional careers looking at what led each of them to embrace fighting and their experience with fight culture in games and entertainment,” Bandai Namco said in a press release. “Known for their real fighting bona fides, Tyson and Woods bring game cred to the panel. Tyson is a part of video game history, as one of the first pro athletes to become the face of a fighting game, and Woods is host of the popular YouTube channel ‘UpUpDownDown,’ with more than 2.4 million subscribers.”
Bandai Namco added, “Cyborg is considered one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. She is the current Featherweight champ in the Bellator Women’s Championship and the only fighter ever to win the MMA Grand Slam. Together with Tekken director Harada and producer Murray, and with shout caster Goldenboy guiding the conversation, the panel is sure to lead to unforgettable fight stories and unmissable moments.”
Lastly, Tekken 8 is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
