Dear Villagers and Midgar Studio announced the Edge of Eternity “New Beginning” update is now live for PC via Steam. The content-rich update will launch by the end of summer 2023 for the existing console versions.
Later this summer, Edge of Eternity’s new update for consoles will be accompanied by all other updates released for PC, bringing parity between all versions. These prior updates included New Game Plus, Auto Battle mode, Weather Stones, an additional accessory slot, and much more. The New Beginning update itself brings several changes to Edge of Eternity on PC today, however.
Edge of Eternity New Beginning Update
The New Beginning update for Edge of Eternity adds a procedurally generated dungeon known as the Lighthouse. In the Lighthouse, players may grind and progress through 50 floors to obtain treasure and grow stronger. Additionally, players may earn special accessories by defeating Guardians in the Lighthouse. Checkpoints exist on every ten floors, which means players will need to start over at the closest unlocked checkpoint if they die. The new dungeon will become accessible in Chapter II after installing the latest update.
Edge of Eternity’s prologue has been reworked entirely in the New Beginning update. According to the developers, the game has a problem onboarding new players into its world due to the structure of the prologue. As a result, the development team spent time completely revamping the prologue to properly reflect “a fair image of the open-world experience” in Edge of Eternity. Moreover, the developers shortened travel times for several main quest objectives in Chapters I and II.
After a year of live development for post-launch updates, Midgar Studio is taking a break from sharing updates to continue gathering feedback and fixing the game’s bugs. The developers hope to bring a new world map and various loading screens in the coming months.

Finally, Edge of Eternity is available now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch (cloud), and PC.
