San Diego Comic-Con 2023 is almost upon us. The prolific panel has lasted since the 1970s and has been home to comic book, movie, and video game announcements for over fifty years. However, as an Actor’s Strike is going on, many central panels have been canceled during the festivities. As a result, it may be hard to keep track of the panels that have not been canceled. Here’s an overview of all the central video game panels you should watch during San Diego Comic-Con 2023.
Spider-Man 2: Symbiotic Relationships
Spider-Man 2 will have a panel at SDCC 2023 before its release on October 20, 2023. The conference begins on Thursday, July 20, from 2:30 PM PDT to 3:30 PM PDT. Here’s what to expect from the panel based on Marvel’s official announcement:
“Insomniac Games’ creative director Bryan Intihar, game director Ryan Smith, narrative director Jon Paquette, and senior art director Jacinda Chew are joined by actors Yuri Lowenthal (Peter Parker), Nadji Jeter (Miles Morales), Laura Bailey (Mary Jane Watson), and Tony Todd (Venom), along with VO and creative director Bill Rosemann from Marvel Games, to discuss the upcoming PlayStation 5 game. Get a behind-the-scenes look at Insomniac Games’ take on the monstrous Venom and how the symbiote plays a role in the sequel to the hit PlayStation games Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.”
Expect to see an official story trailer ahead of the game’s release. There’s also a chance that more footage of Venom, the game’s antagonist, could be revealed. Either way, the panel will be an excellent watch for those looking forward to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Mortal Kombat 1
Mortal Kombat 1 is the next entry in the prolific Mortal Kombat franchise. The game will have a significant presence at SDCC 2023 prior to its release on September 19, 2023. The panel will start on Friday, July 21, from 3:15 PM PDT to 4:15 PM PDT. It will examine the upcoming game’s combat, features, and characters. The voice actors behind Raiden and Smoke will be present at the conference, including the actress Kelly Hu, who will portray a character that will be announced at the conference. Silent Hill: Ascension
Silent Hill: Ascension is the latest experience from the Silent Hill franchise. Described as an “interactive streamer experience,” Konami has confirmed that they will be one of the many panels at San Diego Comic-Con 2023. According to the official panel description, many of the lead developers will show an exclusive look at the game. Expect to see more confirmation on everything you should expect from Silent Hill Ascension, including an official release date.
Star Wars: Outlaws
Another major video game panel you should watch is Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws. Ubisoft has confirmed the first truly open-world Star Wars game will be present at SDCC. It will begin on Friday, July 21, from 5:15 to 6:15 PM PDT. The panel will feature several of the game’s cast and crew. Despite the panel’s contents being unknown, expect to see more information about the game’s release and maybe even another trailer.
Tekken 8: Art of Fighting
The last major video game-related panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 is the Tekken 8: Art of Fighting conference. Revealed just days before SDCC’s beginning, the panel will feature Mike Tyson, Xavier Woods, and director Katsuhiro Harada. It will begin on July 21, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM PDT. It is currently unknown if any new gameplay will be revealed at the event, but expect to see some fun surprises from the world of Tekken.
