Oxenfree II is filled to the brim with many memorable characters. Each protagonist and antagonist in the game has a backstory, motivation, and personality. These are brought to life by talented voice actors and actresses delivering realistic, dynamic, witty writing. Here’s an overview of all the characters and voice actors in Oxenfree II.
Riley Poverly – Liz Saydah
Riley Poverly is the main protagonist of Oxenfree II. A former military dropout, Riley is some parts thrill seeker and some parts maternal figure in the lives of certain characters she encounters. Her wisdom and daring seperates her from the first Oxenfree‘s protagonist, Alex. Elizabeth Saydah voices Riley. Saydah’s most notable acting credit is for The Evil Within II.
Jacob Summers – Joe Bianco
Jacob Summers is the other protagonist alongside Riley. He’s a handyman motivated by his desire to do more than “fix broken things.” He has a passion for technology, arts and crafts, and science. His character serves as the comic relief for a good portion of the story, and his banter with Riley is one of the main highlights of the game. Joe Bianco provides the voice of Jacob. Bianco’s most notable role is in Streets of Rage 4 as Axel.
Parentage – Abigail Turner, Sarah Wunderle, and Jojo Leiato
The group known as Parentage are the main antagonists of Oxenfree II. Olivia, Violet, and Charlie comprise the antagonistic faction. Charlie is a former bully turned doubtful cultist. Violet is a timid young teenager who is reluctant about Parentage’s goals. Olivia is the group’s fanatic, willing to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals. The characters’ voice actors, Abigail Turner, Sarah Wunderle, and Jojo Leiato, are relatively unknown. Despite that, they provide great direction to the sympathetic antagonists of Oxenfree II.
The Walkie-Talkie Contacts
The other main notable characters in Oxenfree II are those you can talk to through the walkie-talkie. These include your guide, Evelyn; a radio host, Maria; the forest ranger Shelley; the photographer Hank; and the amateur sailor, Nick. Alaina Wis, Rachel Rial, Abigail Wahl, Glenn Rockowitz, and Steven Kelley provide the voices of the abovementioned characters. They are mostly known for their roles in other video games and TV shows here and there. The walkie-talkie mechanic is one of the best parts of Oxenfree II, and these characters are the main reason why.
Mystery Characters
The last notable characters and voice actors in Oxenfree II, without spoiling things, are Emerson Boatwright, Lev Rodriguez Shivers, and Emily Tomlinson. Tomlinson provides the voice of Maggie Adler, a notable character from the first Oxenfree. Shivers and Boatwright depict mystery characters that will become clear when playing the game entirely. While their roles are minor, Boatwright, Shivers, and Tomlinson’s performances are just as memorable as the rest of the cast.
Oxenfree II is available now on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Netflix. Check out Night School Studio’s official website for more information about the indie horror game.
