Night School Studio released Oxenfree II on July 12, 2023. The indie title’s predecessor, Oxenfree, clocked in at about five and a half hours, based on the estimations of other players. Almost a week after the release of its sequel, many fans may wonder: how long is Oxenfree II? Here’s an overview of everything you need to know about the length of the latest indie horror title from Night School Studio.
Oxenfree II‘s length
My playthrough of Oxenfree II was about six hours. I didn’t attempt to 100% complete the game: the six-hour play time is based on minimal sidequests. However, I still tried to talk to as many NPCs as possible and make all the right choices to get the best possible ending. This playtime is further supported by the estimations of howlongtobeat.com, which have the game listed at a six-and-a-half-hour playtime.
Despite the relatively short length, the game is still one hour longer than the first Oxenfree. Additionally, the short span of Oxenfree II opens the door for more playthroughs. The Oxenfree franchise is based around making different dialogue choices that can sabotage or enhance your relationship with other characters. A short playthrough time allows for greater experimentation from players trying to figure out the best ending.
The official Steam page describes the game with the following blurb:
OXENFREE II: Lost Signals is the mind-bending follow-up to the critically-acclaimed narrative adventure game OXENFREE from Night School Studio. Play it as a standalone story or dive deeper by playing the original – it’s up to you. As you play, you’ll shape every step of the story through your choices. How you choose to deal with the supernatural events at hand will forever alter the future.
Oxenfree II is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Netflix. Stay tuned for more information from Night School Studio about their future games lineup after the Oxenfree franchise.
