A new trailer for the upcoming indie game Hellboy: Web of Wyrd has been released. Developed by Upstream Arcade and Good Shepherd Entertainment, the game is inspired by the beloved Hellboy comics.
Dark Horse Comics released the first Hellboy comic in 1993. Mike Mignola, a famous author and writer, helped to bring the character to life. The premise behind the comic is simple: humanity found a demon during the Second World War. He was fated to destroy the world until humankind chose to raise him to be a force for good. The game features an art style and story based on the original comic book run. The release date for Web of Wyrd is currently unknown.
The World of Hellboy: Web of Wyrd
The new gameplay trailer of Hellboy: Web of Wyrd showcases more of the upcoming game’s exciting combat and thrilling art style. The official Steam page details what to expect from the gameplay of Hellboy: “Go toe-to-toe (or hoof-to-hoof) with a menagerie of nightmarish creatures and homunculi as you explore the realms within the Wyrd. Combat has been engineered to create challenging encounters that encourage you to learn patterns, dodge, parry, and – of course – punch your enemies into oblivion.”
The game features a mix of rogue-lite and brawler elements. Original series creator Mike Mignola will be overseeing the game’s development. This is evident in the art style and the haunting story focusing on horrifying occult details.
The late Lance Reddick lends his voice to the titular character, Hellboy. The developers have highly implied that Reddick’s performance in Web of Wyrd was among the last he delivered before his passing. Fans can hear Reddick’s performance in the trailer. He will undoubtedly be one of the best voices of Hellboy to date.
Hellboy: Web of Wyrd currently doesn’t have a release date. It will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC when it does release.
