A new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 has just been released. Revealed in the game’s official “Kombat Kast,” the trailer revealed returning characters Smoke and Rain and more new Kameo Fighters.
Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19, 2023. The new game marks the beginning of a new universe established in Mortal Kombat 11, released four years ago. Fans can expect to hear more information about MK1 before its release in the Autumn.
New Fighters
The newest trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 focuses on the Lin Kuei faction. We see more gameplay for Scorpion and Sub Zero and what playing them will entail. Sub Zero has a wide variety of moves that he could use in previous games, and Scorpion utilizes his rope dart to create air combo opportunities.
The new trailer also reveals a first look at Smoke and Rain. Smoke can use his traditional teleportation attacks and a special knife and smoke grenades. Rain can teleport and employ a staff that gives him access to water attacks. The various attacks that both characters can utilize make them exciting additions to the already fascinating combat potential of Mortal Kombat 1.
In the trailer, we also saw glimpses of some new Kameo fighters players can use. These include beloved characters Sektor and Cyrax and Sub Zero’s protege, Frost. The Kameo fighters are a new feature that separates this Mortal Kombat from the rest of the series. Players can pick various Kameos that function similarly to assists in the Marvel vs. Capcom series. The feature will allow for greater gameplay variety and player expression.
Lastly, the Kombat Kast showed how Scorpion and Johnny Cage would play. The latter especially looks exciting, as his gameplay is focused on up close and personal attacks. He can also utilize a “Hype Meter,” exclusively to him, allowing him to use consecutive attacks with no cooldown or drawbacks. Players can expect to see more information about him and the rest of the roster closer to launch.
Release Information
Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19, 2023. It will be available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch at launch. Players can purchase a wide variety of different editions for different perks, as well as pre-order to get access to the character Shang Tsung.
