Suicide Squad Isekai, a new anime featuring the titular team of DC supervillains is on the way. This new anime from Warner Bros. Japan will be animated by WIT Studio. The series was announced earlier today at Anime Expo 2023 during a panel intended for the reveal. It is currently unclear when this new series will air.
An announcement trailer was revealed to the public after the panel. This trailer can be viewed below. In addition, a key visual of Harley Quinn, illustrated by Akira Amano, was also shown.
Suicide Squad Isekai will be directed by Eri Osada with music by Kenichiro Suehiro. In addition, Tappei Nagatsuki (the author of Re:ZERO) and Eiji Umehara will be responsible for the screenplay. Character design duties will be handled by Akira Amano with drafting and Naoto Hosoda with design.
As the name implies, iconic DC characters will find themselves in another world. The series will focus on Harley Quinn and The Joker as they find themselves in a fantasy world. No other members of the Suicide Squad have been confirmed as of writing. Warner Bros. Japan promises that the series will be “violent” and “epic”.

The trailer gives Suicide Squad fans a first glimpse of Harley Quinn and The Joker in action. While much of the trailer doesn’t appear to be set in a fantasy world, viewers do get a chance to see what this world looks like. This world appears to be what many might expect from a typical medieval fantasy setting.
WIT Studio has been responsible for several noteworthy anime series in the past. Some of their most iconic titles include Attack on Titan, Spy x Family, Vinland Saga, Ranking of Kings, and more.
Suicide Squad ISEKAI will mark the first time that the titular team receives an anime series. Furthermore, this will be the first time American comic book characters will star in an “isekai” anime series. However, despite the unique premise, not much is currently known about the story and other potential characters.
