At Anime Expo 2023, MangaGamer announced otome visual novel / hanafuda game series Hana Awase: New Moon is coming westward. The upcoming title will be available for Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, and MangaGamer. MangaGamer confirms the title will include English, Japanese, and Chinese subtitles with Japanese voiceovers.
Hana Awase: New Moon’s story is told in four volumes: Mizuchi Volume, Himeutsugi Volume, Karakurenai / Utsutsu Volume, and Iroha Volume. These four volumes were released between 2012 and 2019 for PC in Japan. In the story, a young woman is drawn into the kasen game. She meets five mysterious men who hold secrets to power and the zenith of skill in hanafuda. Hana Awase New Moon players will explore the story from this young woman’s perspective. Additionally, the upcoming release includes a new original short story and a combined hanafuda battle system across all four volumes.

Spanning across time and realities, Hana Awase is the story of a young woman drawn into the web of the game kasen, played with hanafuda cards. Through playing, she comes to meet five mysterious men, all of whom are elite players and all of whom guard secrets that hold the power to alter her world irreparably.
Each of the four installments in the series offers a different world featuring the same cast of characters — sometimes identical to previously-encountered incarnations, sometimes profoundly different. As the overarching truth slowly unfolds, the immense scope of the battle being waged through the hanafuda cards becomes visible, and the pursuit of romance and a happy ending becomes more and more complex. Can our heroine and her companions find their way through the turmoil?
