How to Save Your Game in Final Fantasy XVI
To save your game, follow these steps exactly.
- Press the menu button on your DualSense and open up the main menu of Final Fantasy XVI.
- Tab over to the System tab in the main menu. This is done by pressing R2. Once hovering over it, you’ll be able to click on it using X and enter the System Settings menu.
- At the very top of the menu, you’ll see an option to Save. Press this option to save your game. Like most games, you can overwrite save files, so save the game where you’d like to in the slot.
It’s that easy! Do note that in that same System Settings menu, you’ll also be able to load saves. This can be incredibly resourceful throughout your playthrough in Valisthea.
Final Fantasy XVI Auto-Save Feature
Final Fantasy XVI does also auto-save your game throughout your playthrough. Like most of Square Enix’s recent titles, the auto-save system will display a symbol in the bottom right corner periodically to let you know the game is being saved in the background. Generally, this happens before and after story beats or when arriving at specific locations.
When you load the game up from the main menu and hit Continue, it will load the latest save made by the auto-save system. If you want to load a manual save that you made, this is where the Load feature from earlier comes in especially handy.
