Spin-Offs
Compared to the mainline series, there are dozens of spin-off games under the Final Fantasy banner. However, fans may want to consider a few notable Final Fantasy spin-off franchises. The Final Fantasy Tactics games play similarly to other tactical RPGs like Fire Emblem, and Crystal Chronicles games function like action RPGs. Recently, Final Fantasy Origin: Stranger of Paradise was released as a spin-off on most modern consoles. Additionally, a few fighting games and rhythm games exist, including Dissidia and Theatrhythm.
Final Fantasy VII
This is, of course, just the tip of the iceberg. There are many expansions to games like Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy XIV, as well as bundled releases that include several games at once. However, special attention should also go to the compilation of Final Fantasy VII. Final Fantasy VII is arguably one of the most beloved games in the franchise, and it’s gotten the most spin-offs out of every Final Fantasy game to date. There have been eight so far:
- Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII – 2004 in JP
- Mobile
