Star Ocean: The Second Story R Logo Leaked

A new remaster on the way?

A logo for Star Ocean: The Second Story R has been leaked on Square Enix’s official support website, implying that another remaster may be on the way. The leak comes nearly four years after the release of Star Ocean: First Departure R

As the name suggests, Star Ocean: The Second Story is the second entry in the franchise developed by tri-Ace and published by Square Enix. The title originally released on July 30, 1998 for the original PlayStation in Japan and May 30, 1999 in the west. The PSP remaster, Star Ocean: Second Evolution, would release on April 2, 2008 in Japan and January 19, 2009 in the west. Star Ocean: Second Evolution received PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita ports in 2015, but these versions are exclusive to Japan. Another remaster appears to be on the way, however.

Star Ocean: The Second Story R Logo

Star Ocean: The Second Story R is either an enhanced remaster of Star Ocean: The Second Story for the original PlayStation or an enhanced port of Star Ocean: Second Evolution for PlayStation Portable with quality of life improvements and updated character art. The Star Ocean: The Second Story R logo has been taken down from the official website now, but outlet RPG Site was able to save the image before then. An announcement is seemingly imminent, so fans should wait for an official reveal from Square Enix.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force is the latest entry in the long-running series. The title features two protagonists, Raymond and Laeticia, and several allies that come together to face a major threat. Raymond is the captain of the space trading ship, Ydas, and Laeticia is the princess-knight of a kingdom on the underdeveloped planet, Aster IV.

Lastly, Star Ocean: The Divine Force is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
