Bethesda and Tango Gameworks just announced that Hi-Fi Rush will be getting a new update in July. Titled the Arcade Challenge Update, the new Hi-Fi Rush update offers new modes, new cosmetics, and other new quality-of-life updates.
Hi-Fi Rush Arcade Challenge Update – New Game Modes and Rewards
Two new modes will be added to the game. The first is called BPM Rush. The new experience functions as a sort of horde mode. With every enemy that is defeated, the speed of combat and movement increases dramatically, until the player is operating on nothing but instinct.
Another mode being added is called “Power Up! Tower Up!” It functions similarly to the Rhythm Tower mode added after players beat the game for the first time. But unlike Rhythm Tower, all of the player’s abilities have been taken away. With every few waves that are completed by the player, they must choose what abilities to reinvest in. With these abilities, the protagonist, Chai must fight against some of the toughest enemies in the game once more.
Making more progress in the modes unlocks some brand-new rewards. These include the ability to summon beloved characters CNMN and Smidge into battle. There are also new photo mode stickers, and costumes for 808, Chai, Korsica, and Peppermint, to name a few. The end of the trailer teases retro costumes for 808 and Chai, and game director John Johanas teased costumes that imagine “what it would be like if Hi-Fi Rush took place in a different era.”
The Arcade Challenge! Update! will release for Hi-Fi Rush on July 5th, 2023. The game was released earlier this year as a surprise shadow drop and standout hit in early 2023. Hi-Fi Rush is currently available on Xbox Series X|S and Steam. It is also available on Game Pass.
