The recent Xbox Showcase was one of the biggest highlights of Summer Game Fest 2023. New information was revealed for games like Starfield and Hellblade 2. Plus, new third-party announcements came in the form of Persona 3 Reloaded and Payday 3. Here is an overview of some of the best trailers from the recent Xbox Showcase.
Star Wars Outlaws
Ubisoft and LucasFilm Games first announced Outlaws as an upcoming open-world Star Wars. It was officially revealed as Star Wars Outlaws at the Xbox Showcase. A cinematic trailer was also released alongside the reveal. The game will take place between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, focusing on two outlaws on a mission to pull off a near-impossible heist. The game will release in 2024, and more gameplay will be shown at the Ubisoft Showcase on June 12th. Check out the trailer here!
Persona 3 Reload
Persona 3 Reload is the long-anticipated remake of the original Persona 3. The game is set to take full advantage of the new hardware and run at a native 4k/60 fps. The characters will also be voiced by a brand new cast of actors. While it will not adapt any of the elements of Persona 3 FES and Portable, Persona 3 Reload will undoubtedly be the definitive way to play one of the most beloved games in the franchise. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is the first(and last) expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. The expansion will star Keanu Reeves, returning as Johnny Silverhand, as well as Idris Elba as the new character, Solomon Reed. Phantom Liberty is a spy/espionage-thriller set in the exciting world of Night City, with a brand new area of the city packaged with the experience. Metaphor: ReFantazio
Another ATLUS game shown off was Metaphor: ReFantazio. First announced as Project Re Fantasy, it’s a brand new title from the minds behind the Persona series. The game is set to release in 2024 and marks ATLUS’ first-ever full-scale Fantasy RPG. The game has the beautiful art style of other ATLUS games and will likely be another stand-out JRPG from Sega-Atlus. Check out the trailer here!
Clockwork Revolution
Clockwork Revolution is a new first-party game from Xbox, developed by InXline. It is set to be “a time-bending steampunk first-person RPG.” The visuals and gameplay seemed to be at least partly inspired by Bioshock, but it still looks unique enough to stand out in a crowd. With a unique art direction and a focus on time-based mechanics, Clockwork Revolution is one of the more unique games in Microsoft’s current lineup. Check out the trailer here!
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 looks like yet another stunning visual marvel from Xbox. The game features brand-new vehicles as well as new types of missions, such as Helicopter Cargo Delivery and Aerial Firefighting. The new Flight Simulator also bolsters a truly unmatched art direction with some of gaming’s most beautiful visuals to date. The new Microsoft Flight Simulator will release in 2024, alongside DLC from the world of Dune. Check out the trailer here!
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
Hellblade II is yet another highly anticipated game from Xbox. First announced alongside the Xbox Series X, Senua’s Saga is set to continue the powerful story first established in the first Hellblade. Alongside a new trailer, the game has a confirmed release date of 2024. Hellblade II will release on Xbox Series X|S and Steam next year. It will undoubtedly be a visual and audio marvel upon its release.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Another game announced at the showcase was Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Infinite Wealth is the eighth entry in the Like a Dragon franchise. It’s a direct follow-up to Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The new release looks to take place partly in America and feature the return of series protagonists Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu. The game will release in 2024 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Check out the trailer here!
Starfield
Finally, there is Xbox’s flagship title for 2023, Starfield. The next major game from Bethesda Studios, a gameplay trailer, and a full 45-minute showcase was dedicated to talking about Starfield. Customization and gameplay were fully detailed, as well as more information about the art direction, companions, and the many worlds that Bethesda has created for Starfield. Other Information
To wrap up, most of the aforementioned games will be available on day one on Game Pass. While some games were missing, like Indiana Jones, Halo, and Contraband, the Xbox Showcase was an incredible overview of everything the company has in store for the rest of the year. Fans can look forward to many of these games coming out in late 2023 or 2024. They can also check the Xbox channel on their Youtube and Twitch channels for the full VOD of the showcase.
