Pikmin 4 Features Night-Time Missions With ‘New and Intense Gameplay’

    Vicious creatures await after sunset.

Pikmin 4 will feature night-time missions with “new and intense gameplay” according to a recent survey sent out to select My Nintendo users. The upcoming Pikmin title will shake up gameplay for the long-running franchise with new abilities and content.

The new survey asks about what Pikmin fans may want in Pikmin 4 including gameplay elements and overall content. Additionally, Nintendo teases a few features about Pikmin 4 within the survey. According to Nintendo, Pikmin 4 includes “delving into puzzle-filled caves and carefully managing your resources until you escape”, which is not entirely new to the Pikmin franchise. However, Nintendo also mentions “embarking on night-time missions that feature new and intense gameplay” according to Eurogamer.

Pikmin 4 will feature night-time missions where the player must be more careful around creatures that roam the world. Once night sets in, creatures are more vicious and unforgiving in Pikmin 4. Nintendo teased these night-time missions near the end of its Pikmin 4 trailer in the February 2023 Nintendo Direct. A creature at the end of the trailer may be seen with glowing red eyes during the night, suggesting that players must explore this dangerous setting throughout various instances of the main story. Further details were not shared, so fans will have to wait for another official update from Nintendo.

Here’s an overview of Pikmin 4 via the official Nintendo eShop page:

    About Pikmin 4

Guide pintsized creatures in a grand mission on a strange planet!

Meet Pikmin, small, plantlike creatures you can grow, pluck, command, and overpower your enemies with! These curious helpers come in different types—fire is no sweat for Red Pikmin and the brand-new Ice Pikmin can freeze enemies and the environment. Use your Pikmin’s miniature might (and a bit of strategy) to explore this mysterious planet.

You get a dog, too! Oatchi (pronounced oat-chee), resident good boy and dependable partner, can help with things like smashing obstacles and carrying Pikmin throughout your adventure. With the miniscule Pikmin and a capable canine in tow, no challenge is too big!

Lastly, Pikmin 4 releases on July 21 worldwide for Nintendo Switch.
