    DECAPOLICE announced for Nintendo Switch

A brand new adventure from Level-5.

During today’s Nintendo Direct, DECAPOLICE was announced, along with a trailer. The game looks to be a stylized RPG that takes place in a sci-fi setting. Players will assume the role of a futuristic police detective to solve crimes through the means of a virtual world.

According to the game’s website, the virtual world that much of the game seems to take place in is called DECAISM. This world is described as a perfect copy of reality. DECAISM contains memories of every past crime. “Clues” can be found in DECAISM, and will help to solve real-world crimes.

Players will be able to explore a large open world and solve crimes. The game looks to have a battle system, but will also apparently require players to use deductive reasoning as well. So, it looks like this will be a combination of an RPG and an adventure game. It looks as if players will be able to bring along some party members as well. How these different gameplay elements will be balanced is still unclear.

    The Return of Level-5

Not much else is known about DECAPOLICE at this point. The game is brought to you by Level-5, the same studio behind games such as the Professor Layton series, Ni no Kuni, and more. Early in January, Level-5 put up a job listing to help expand the company to a “global scale”. It seems this game is part of a new effort by Level-5 to attract a global audience. So, if you are a fan of Level-5’s output, you may want to keep your eyes out for this one.

DECAPOLICE will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 sometime later this year. No price or age rating for the game has been decided as of writing. Stay tuned for more coverage of this intriguing new game!
