ARIKA published a notice disclosing its contracted development work for Tekken 7 and Tekken 8 in partnership with Bandai Namco. The tenured fighting game developer will help shape the future of online services for Tekken 8.
Bandai Namco has officially contracted ARIKA to work on both Tekken 7 and Tekken 8. ARIKA and Bandai Namco will collaborate to develop any remaining updates for Tekken 7 going forward. These Tekken 7 updates will be directly handled by ARIKA, while Bandai Namco signs off on all matters pertaining to game balance. Updates to Tekken 7 may include improvements, bug fixes, and usability improvements to online matches.
According to ARIKA, the company will collaborate with Bandai Namco and “provide advice on our developed online algorithms and game response. Additionally, ARIKA will undertake production work to improve the overall user experience. The studio ends the notice by reiterating its desire to deliver even better games for fans around the world.

Rollback netcode of any kind for Tekken 8 has not been directly confirmed by ARIKA or Bandai Namco yet. However, ARIKA has successfully implemented rollback netcode in the past with Fighting EX Layer, so the possibility remains. Tekken 8 may potentially be the first game in the franchise to feature rollback netcode for its online services.
Lastly, Tekken 8 is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
