Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Delayed to April 28, 2023

    A six-week delay for polish.

Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts announced today that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been delayed to April 28, 2023. This is a shift back from the initial release date of March 17, 2023. The game was initially revealed at 2022’s Star Wars Celebration, and the release date (now the former release date) was revealed at The Game Awards last December.

The statement regarding the delay can be found below:

For the last three years, the Jedi team here at Respawn has poured its collective heart and soul into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and we are proud to say the next chapter in the tale of Cal Kestis is content complete. We are now focused entirely on the final stage: bug fixes to enhance performance, stability, polish, and most importantly, the player experience.

Jedi: Survivor is a direct response to the feedback from our community, delivering expansive destinations to explore, evolved combat and traversal, and of course, the continuation of Cal and BD’s story. Making this game has truly made us a better team, and we have pushed ourselves at every level to make this the Star Wars sequel our fans expect from Respawn and Lucasfilm Games.

In order for the team to hit the Respawn quality bar, provide the team the time they need, and achieve the level of polish our fans deserve, we have added six crucial weeks to our release schedule – Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now launch globally on April 28th.

Thanks to EA and Respawn for giving us the time to deliver the best experience for our players, and to all of you for your understanding.

May the Force be with you.

Stig, and the Star Wars Jedi Team

Survivor is a direct follow-up to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The sequel will be set five years from the end of Fallen Order, with all sorts of new combat mechanics and planets to explore. Additionally, Respawn has begun teasing villains through the trailers we have gotten thus far, but it is not clear at this time who might be the big bad of Survivor.

For fans disappointed by the news, a six-week delay is extremely reasonable considering the scale Survivor is aiming for. The team will utilize this time to debug and perfect the game for a near-perfect experience at launch. While seeing a game like Survivor get delayed can be disappointing, it’s important to remember that it is for the betterment of both the developers and the game itself. Luckily, there are plenty of other titles launching in March to look forward to as well.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will release on April 28, 2023, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
