PlayStation 5 Has Sold Over 30 Million Units

An impressive 2 years for the console.

At CES 2023, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the PlayStation 5 console has sold 30 million units. The last update on the console units sold was in September of last year when it was confirmed that the PlayStation 5 sold over 25 million units.

Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated that December was the best month in PlayStation 5 sales thus far. Additionally, he stated that the availability of PlayStation 5 consoles will dramatically increase moving forward.

2022 was a strong year for first-party titles at PlayStation. Guerilla Games released the long-awaited sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, in addition to Sony Santa Monica releasing the critically acclaimed God of War Ragnarok. Ragnarok alone deserves plenty of credit for the boost that has gotten PlayStation 5 to 30 million units.

    Final Fantasy XVI

PS5 is set to have quite a grand year, with both the launches of Final Fantasy XVI and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on the horizon. Strong third-party support with games such as Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter 6, and Stars Wars Jedi: Survivor will also assist the console in its third year on the market.

Be sure to stay tuned to Final Weapon for all the latest on PlayStation 5 as we head onwards in 2023! With only Spider-Man 2 confirmed for Fall, it is highly likely that Sony holds a presentation of some sort to show off other titles released this year on PlayStation 5.
