How to Pre-Install and Update Genshin Impact

Getting ready for a new update.

Genshin Impact is regularly updated with new versions throughout the year, and each update contains new characters, events, and quests. Launch day for each update is filled with millions of players, so pre-installing Genshin Impact updates is worth doing to get right into the latest content. In this guide, we will discuss how to use the pre-install function in Genshin Impact and how to install updates.

Note: The pre-installation feature is limited to PC and mobile platforms according to HoYoverse.

    PlayStation 4 and 5

Updating Genshin Impact on PlayStation consoles is rather straightforward. If a user’s PlayStation 4 and/or PlayStation 5 has automatic updates turned on, then the process is done while the console is in rest mode or in the background while its on.

To manually update Genshin Impact, players should highlight the game from the console’s Home Screen, press the Options button and select “Check for Update.” This function will check if updates are available now to install for the game. Additionally, if an update is detected, it will proceed to download and install the update.

    PC

To pre-install a Genshin Impact update on PC, players should press the “Game Pre-Installation” button in the PC launcher. The button has a cloud icon with the subtitle “Get Now,” and it’s found right beside the start button in the “Launch Button.” Further, the launcher will verify if enough storage space is available to download and pre-install the update. If a user does not pre-install the update, players may simply open the Genshin Impact launcher and press “Update” where the “Launch” Button is usually located.
